Mike Murray is one of Canada’s leading voices on the guitar, known for fearless approach to music, explosive playing style, and genre-bending composition. His music exists in the space between worlds, built on a foundation of Jazz harmony and complexity blended with textures and rhythms from South Asia, Latin America, and beyond, and performed with a Rock attitude and intensity where every note sends a message. He is extremely active in the guitar-driven music space, both with his own band the Mike Murray Group and as a collaborator with internationally renowned guitarists such as Mekaal Hasan of Pakistan, Yiannis Kapoulas of Greece, and many more. He is sought-out as an educator for his expertise, having been invited to join the music faculty at Centennial College at age 24, and in 2025 was invited to develop a new curriculum of progressive music and guitar at York University. He is a highly in-demand session player, having performed with an incredibly diverse array of artists and productions in virtually every imaginable style of popular music and various world styles, ranging from dozens of major musical theatre productions, to award-winning artists such as Jeremy Voltz and Garrett Jamieson, tributes to Jeff Beck and Frank Zappa, Bollywood superstars Karthik and Vijay Prakash, and many more.
