Although only in university, Diya’s vocals reveal an old soul quality and many comment in wonder how someone so young could have a voice so rich. Diya has performed at various jazz festivals and clubs in Toronto with a variety of musicians. Her grace and ease come through as she performs, transporting her audience to the Days of Wine and Roses. Her love of singing is evident as she gets lost in the music.
Diya has been lauded for her work and continues to hone her craft. She is currently attending the University of Toronto for a major in vocal jazz performance and has studied with Juno award winning songwriter Jacquline Teh, multiple Juno award winning saxophonist Kelly Jefferson and Juno award winning jazz drummer Ernesto Cervini. Diya has also been mentored by Juno award winning jazz vocalist Caity Gyorgy, one of her largest influences.
