Rouso Bio 

Rouso [Roo-so] is a new Calypso-folk project keeping the songs, stories, and spirit of Calypso alive while celebrating the genre’s rich connections to jazz and folk traditions. Led by JUNO-nominated, Trinidadian-born saxophonist Jesse Ryan—grandson of Calypso icon Mighty Bomber and a leading voice in Afro-Caribbean jazz—the project brings together a dynamic ensemble of musicians rooted in Calypso, Caribbean, and jazz traditions. 

The project features calypsonian Steve Clarke, aka Mr. Wonderful, a Toronto Calypso stalwart and vibrant storyteller; percussionist Derek Thorne, who has performed with Calypso Rose and Kobo Town and studied with Cuban percussion legend Changuito; and legendary Jamaican guitarist Maurice Gordon.
