Nate is a Canadian guitarist who, since the 2010s, has been based in Japan. He was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He graduated from Humber College's Jazz Program and attended the Banff Centre for the Arts Jazz and Creative Music Workshop twice when it was led by Dave Douglas. He plays standards, improvises freely, and composes music for guitar and a variety of ensembles with musicians from around the world. He holds a PhD in Ethnomusicology from the University of Toronto and continues research on connections between music and environment.
