Matt Brubeck is a JUNO award-winning performer/composer specializing in improvisation on the cello. Matt returns to the Rex with a trio featuring Toronto jazz luminaries Ted Quinlan (guitar) and Ted Warren (drums). Drawing from Matt’s deep catalogue of compositions this band embraces the funky and the ethereal, quirky forms, and a wide harmonic palette. Matt has collaborated with more artists than he can remember, including Marilyn Lerner, David Braid, Nick Fraser, and Kevin Breit. In addition to his jazz/improvising work, Matt has enjoyed many eclectic musical adventures including touring and/or recording with Tom Waits, Sheryl Crow, The (Dixie) Chicks, Natalie McMaster, and Yo-Yo Ma.
