Margaret Donovan is a trombonist, composer and sound engineer. Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, she studied jazz trombone at McGill University in Montreal before making the recent move to Toronto in 2025. During her time in Montreal, she studied with renowned musicians Dave Grott, Jean-Nicolas Trottier, Camille Thurman and Remi Bolduc. She earned a coveted spot as a member of L’Orchestre National de Jazz, performed with various latin music ensembles, hip hop brass bands, balkan brass ensembles, small jazz groups and much more. Her proudest accomplishments to date have been the recent completion of her music for big band, as well as the “Facade Sextet” that she co-leads alongside drummer Matys Colpron. Margaret is now studying to earn her Masters in Music Technology and Digital Media from the University of Toronto.
