Keith Barstow is a Toronto-based drummer originally from Napanee, Ontario. He has a bachelor’s degree in jazz performance from the University of Toronto, where he studied with Ernesto Cervini, Terry Clarke, Nick Fraser and Jim Vivian, and where he had the opportunity to perform with visiting artists Kris Davis, Tony Malaby and Renee Rosnes. Keith has also performed with Pat Collins, Caity Gyorgy, Duncan Hopkins, Mike Murley, Reg Schwager, Neil Swainson, Steve Wallace and Perry White. He can be heard on Hannah Barstow’s Beneath (2021), Adema/Manoukas Octet’s New Roots (2022), Ale Nuñez’s Juno-nominated album Under the Lemon Tree (2025) and Micaela Rae’s Saccharine (2025).
As a bandleader, Keith enjoys reinterpreting lesser-played songs from the jazz standard repertoire, as well as his favourite theme songs from film.
