Jonathan Nvita was born in Kinshasa (DRC), fourth of five children. Nvita had a passion for music since age 5, following in the footsteps of his late father, who was a choir conductor and guitar player. He desired to pursue his love for music on an academic level. Because of his father's death, he missed the opportunity to attend music school and instead spent his adolescence studying chemistry and biology. Despite studying a different subject, music was still his passion. As he got older, his approach to music grew drastically inthe way that his interest in music shifted in the direction ofhis heroes such as Lokua Kanza, Luambo Makiadi, RichardBona, Bobby McFerrin, and Al Jarreau.Nvita has a bachelor’s degree in music at Humber Collegewhere he got the opportunity to study with manyoutstanding teachers in Canada. Nvita combines jazz knowledge with his African heritagethrough song, rhythm, and dance. He believes that “musicis spiritual," a tool that helps to communicate with God,the ancestors, and to reconnect with the beautiful land ofAfrica. Nvita's only goal in life is to bring peace between nations, put a smile on people's faces, share love, educate peoplethrough lyrics, and raise awareness. Prepare to be transported by the dynamic rhythms, haunting melodies, and rich harmonies that define thisexceptional debut. Join us in celebrating the arrival of anew voice in African jazz, one that honors the past whileboldly forging a new path forward.
