Using ragtime and traditional folk blues as an entrypoint to the guitar at a young age, Thales began studying jazz in high school under the guidance of Stuart Steinhart. In 2021, Thales was chosen for the National Youth Jazz Combo, “an honour group for exceptional high school jazz players” (MusicFest Canada). Moving to Toronto in 2022 to pursue an undergraduate in jazz performance, Thales studied with jazz great Lorne Lofsky, who had an immense impact on his technique and approach to the instrument. In 2024, Thales was named as one of two recipients of the Mary Alice Stuart Scholarship by Toronto’s JAZZFM.91 radio station, an award which recognizes “outstanding emerging jazz artists who are completing their studies at the four Toronto-based post-secondary institutions”.

The trio, composed of Andrew Ferguson on bass and Chris Wiens on drums, explores an array of repertoire, including original music and favourite classics of the last century.
