Brian Dickinson has been a mainstay on the Canadian jazz scene for over forty years. His skills as a jazz pianist, composer and arranger have been heard on well over eighty recordings including over twelve of his own releases as leader. He has received multiple Juno nominations and won for best jazz recording in 1991.

As a sideman, Brian has performed and recorded with many of the greatest international players including Jerry Bergonzi, Lee Konitz, Rich Perry, Dick Oatts, Randy Brecker, John Abercrombie, Kenny Wheeler and George Garzone, among others.

Brian’s recent recordings are “Ballads” (solo piano, 2024), “Music for Jazz Orchestra” (2017) and “The Rhythm Method” (2015), a quintet, comprised of Kelly Jefferson and Luis Deniz (saxophones), Neil Swainson (bass) and Ted Warren (drums). His next release, “October Songs”, featuring music written for piano, saxophone, and the Penderecki String Quartet will be released in the fall of 2025.

As well as touring Canada extensively, Brian has also toured the US, Europe and Asia. As a member of the Canadian Jazz Collective he recently toured Europe (Ronnie Scott’s, Le Duc des Lombards, Jazzland etc.) and the US (Birdland, Dizzy’s, The Jazz Kitchen etc.). They have released two recordings, “Septology – the Black Forest Session” (MPS), and “Live at Le Vauban” (Fresh Sound Records).
