Axiomatic Heresy is a cordless trio led by saxophonist Jonathan Kay, rooted in a diagrammatic approach to reworking traditional materials through  free (jazz) improvisation. Drawing on the spiritual and avant-garde lineages of Albert Ayler, Don Cherry, John/Alice Coltrane, Pharaoh Sanders, Jimmy Lyons, Julius Hemphill and Ornette Coleman, the project treats these repertoires as living frameworks for collective exploration rather than fixed texts. The core quartet features Jonathan Kay (saxophones), Nick Fraser (drums), and Alex Fournier (bass), with rotating guest saxophonists including Kayla Milmine, Andrew Kay, and Reagan Mitchell, creating an open, volatile sound-world where structure and rupture continually reconfigure one another.
