The AMOT Orchestra is a dynamic collective focused on exploring the meeting points between disciplines and cultures, and imagining new musical forms to reflect the aesthetics and multiculturalism of the Canadian identity with an emphasis on improvisation and individuality. Modelled primarily on the approach of the Australian Art Orchestra, AMOT’s intentions are threefold: creating projects that focus on reimagining bodies of work, creating new works that exhibit distinct artistic notions, and facilitating collaborations in cultural and improvisatory settings with members of the broader Canadian music community.

On Saturday, October 17th, the AMOT Orchestra will be showcasing In Exile, a newly composed, multi-movement work that weaves together three powerful poems with a dynamic set of music drawn from jazz, folk, and art orchestra traditions. Composed and arranged by Dylan Pilcher, the suite is inspired by the works of Turkish revolutionary poet, Nazım Hikmet, and features Turkish vocalist, Esra Gürçay, on lead vocals.
